The semi-new video game for the Playstation 2 is causing a huge buzz. God of War 2 is a twist on Greek mythology including characters such as Zeus, Aphrodite, and Poseidon. These famous characters are only some of many widely known characters also in this game. Villains such as Medusa, the cyclops, and even the legendary titans are included in this game. Many mythological creatures are also presented in very good graphics. The harpie, the living dead, and giant monsters and just a few of the creatures faced in this fast-paced game. Along with all the blood and gore action, there are also some very difficult puzzle that have to be solved to move forward in the game.
The main character in this wild murderous game is named Kratos. Although he doesn't know it, he is the son of Zeus. In his first adventure he became a slave to the God of War named Aries. As Aries became more powerful, the gods began to worry. Since the gods were not allowed to fight against each other, Athena (Zeus' daughter), asked Kratos to find Pandora's box and take down Aries. Kratos completes his task and the gods make him the new God of War.
Kratos turns out to be even worse than Aries ever was. Haunted by his horrible past and the memory of accidentally killing his own wife and daughter, he enters the world to conquer the lands with his fellow Spartans. Zeus had seen enough and attempts to kill Kratos but, fails due to the Titans aiding Kratos to get out of Hades. With his hate boiling, Kratos sets off to kill the Sisters of Fate, which control time itself. The power of the sisters will give Kratos the ability to go back to when Zeus killed him and stop him from ever doing so. With Zeus out of the picture, the Titans along with Kratos will rule Olympus and the all the mortals below. This will lead to the end, this is the reason the title is The End Begins.
This game takes a very long time to beat, even longer to unlock all of the special features. God of War 2 is said by G4's gaming experts to be the best game on the PS2 to date. Getting a 4.5 out of 5 from IGN magazine and a 5 out of 5 from X-Play is only half of it. The game also has a bonus DVD which give a behind the scenes look at the game and how it was created. God of War 2 will always be a must have for Playstation 2 owners.
